On Wednesday, March 30th the world's largest public art project painted by thousands of children will be launched over the Santa Monica as it takes to the skies on a nationwide tour. Since October, thousands of children from across the country have participated in painting the Ameriquest Soaring Dreams Airship. Children in after-school programs, youth organizations and pediatric care facilities used more than 450 gallons of paint and topcoat, 75,000 square feet of tarp, hundreds of thousands of brush strokes with as many as 1,000 paint brushes to produce the 40,000-square-foot canvas that envelops the Soaring Dreams Airship which will serve as an expression of hope and opportunity for America's youth. The historic project being funded by Ameriquest Mortgage Company, is currently being assembled in a hangar in Long Beach, CA. Within the first two weeks in the air it will fly over Opening Day celebrations at a variety of ballparks including Dodgers Stadium, as well as the home fields of the Padres and Angels. The Soaring Dreams Program reflects Ameriquest and Portraits of Hope's shared commitment to fostering healthy communities by investing in today's youth.
